Reliable and Affordable Internet from Comcast
I came across this article from PC World today. It describes a $10 a month internet plan for low income families. It is through a new program from Comcast that is called “Internet Essentials”.
I know that $10 a month sounds great but this program does have some requirements. One of them being that the consumer cannot have had service 90 days prior to enrolling in this program. The good news is that Comcast guarantees that the price will not increase and activation and rental fees are free of charge. The other good news is that once you have enrolled in this program Comcast also issues vouchers for a budget computer.
While the speeds are not exactly top notch, they are not exactly snail speed either. The advertised speeds are 1.5 Mbps download and 384 Kbps upload. This is plenty to be able to surf the web, join Facebook and Twitter and handle email and normal everyday tasks.
Overall I think this is a good program because it will help get more families online so they will be able to enjoy the benefits of computers and technology. This is what I am all about. I think that everyone should be able to enjoy these things.

I hope everyone finds this information useful and even if you are not eligible for the program, I would recommend passing it on to someone who might be.
