Finding the Best Airplane Tickets
I’m sure by now that most of you take advantage of the wonderful convenience of buying airline tickets online. There are several methods that most people use, with a couple of the more popular sites being Expedia, Travelocity and CheapTickets.com. While these sites are great for the one stop shop of buying your airline ticket, hotel room and booking rental cars, sometimes you just want to find the cheapest airfare with a no frills approach.
A site that I came across that does this is called Hipmunk.com and it keeps things simplified. It also adds a nice side by side graphical layout for the search results. If you go to the homepage you will see the following screen.
Searching for a Flight
The interface is simple and clean. You’ll notice that at the top of the window there are three options. Regular, Multi-City and Flexible. Most of you will probably want to choose regular. This is the simplest search for a round trip ticket.
Simply enter the information in the required boxes. There are three options where you can select the number of passengers, class you want to fly and you can also specify a preferred airline. When you are finished, click the big “Search!” button.
When the search results are presented you will see that the format is a nice visual layout. You can see prices on the left hand side, the dates across the top and all the available flights displayed in a graph. When you see one that fits your schedule you can click on it and you will be provided with more information about that flight. You will also be provided with an opportunity to go ahead and buy a ticket. The flight and airline is displayed as well as what site the offer is available from.
The other two search options are just as easy to use. Multi-city is just what the name implies. This lets you search when traveling to multiple cities and helping you find the best deal for your entire route. The “Flexible” option is pretty interesting. It lets you specify your departure date and then choose when you would like to return give or take a couple of days. This can help you find even better deals when you are not bound to a specific return date. Sometimes if you can wait a day or two, the price drops drastically.
The simplistic layout and design makes this website very easy to use and you can compare prices and airlines very easily with the graphical layout. They have just added a function for Hotels as well. Even if you prefer to book your airline tickets through a certain site, you can compare prices and availability here and use it as a reference. It’s worth checking out! I’d be happy to hear from you to see if you found this useful.
