The volume lock on your Comcast remote is a convenient feature to have because it makes adjusting the volume much easier and a lot less confusing. Typically you would have separate volumes for all your devices, such as TV, Cable box and maybe an audio amplifier. The volume lock forces the Comcast remote to always send the code for the device of your choosing. You’ve probably experienced this if you’ve ever tried to turn the volume up but doesn’t seem to get very loud, even at full volume. Then you find out that the volume on your Cable box has been turned all the way down. So you hit the cable button, turn the volume up only to realize that the TV volume is still at full blast….sound familiar? The volume lock on your Comcast remote puts a stop to all of that
Setting the Global Volume Lock
This will lock the volume control of your Comcast remote to only one device of your choosing. The majority of the time this is usually the TV. For example, this would mean that no matter what device you have selected, the TV volume is the one that would be adjusted when using the Volume +/- buttons.
Press and hold the “Setup” button until one of the device buttons blinks twice.
Enter code 9-9-3. One of the device buttons should blink twice.
Press and release the device button you want to lock the volume to.
After choosing your device and pressing the button, you should see two blinks confirming a successful lock.
Disable the Volume Lock for a Specific Device
This will disable the volume lock on your Comcast remote only when the specified device is selected with your remote. For example, if you follow these steps for your Cable box, then whenever you select Cable you will be adjusting the volume on the Cable box while leaving the TV or amplifier volume alone.
Press and release the button for the device you want to disable volume lock on.
Press and hold the “Setup” button until the device button blinks twice.
Enter the code 9-9-3. The device button should blink twice.
Press and release the Volume Down button.
The device button should should blink 4 times confirming a successful unlock.
Disable the Global Volume Lock
This will disable the Volume lock on your Comcast remote. The volume and mute buttons will individually control whichever device you have selected. Typically you would usually need to do this to pre-adjust volume levels on your amplifier or Cable box, and then set the volume lock again to one device.

Press and release the Volume Up button.
A device button should blink 4 times confirming a successful unlock.
