Trying to keep things simple.

Use Your Comcast Remote to Control Netflix on Xbox 360

Making Xbox 360, Netflix and Comcast Play Together

If you have an XBox 360 and Netflix, then more than likely you have activated your Xbox so you can watch Netflix on it. This is just one of the cool features of the XBox 360 and personally I absolutely love it. The problem is that unless you have an XBox wireless remote, you have to use the XBox controller to navigate everything. On top of that, you still need your Comcast remote to adjust the volume of your TV. This is a major inconvenience if all you want to do is pause or rewind a show that you’ve been watching. Especially if you’ve been watching long enough for the XBox controller to power off. So now you have to power it back on before you can pause or rewind Netflix. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could start up Netflix and then use your Comcast remote to navigate all the movies and play functions?

This tutorial will walk you through the steps to program your Comcast Remote to operate your Xbox. It will not control every aspect of your Xbox and I have only tested it using the Netflix app. So please keep that in mind. Also the code used for the programming is for the silver Comcast remote with the red OK/Select button.

1. Press the AUX button on your Comcast remote.

2. Press and hold “Setup” until the AUX button flashes twice.

3. Enter the code 21708

4. You should see the AUX button flash twice confirming the code was accepted.

Now, since the function of the OK/Select button is locked by Comcast. You will need to program another button to serve that function for the XBox. The easiest way is to remap the A, B or C button since I’ve found that most people don’t even use these buttons. For this tutorial we will use the “A” button.

1. Press the AUX button on your Comcast remote.

2. Press and hold the “Setup” button until the AUX button flashes twice.

3. Enter the code 994. The AUX button should flash twice confirming that the code was accepted.

4. Press the “Setup” button once

5. Enter the code 00001

6. Press the “A” button. You should see the AUX button flash twice confirming that the code was accepted.

So that’s it. Your Comcast remote will now control the majority of navigation functions on your Xbox 360. Below is a list of the controls and their equivalents.

XBox 360 Comcast Remote
Select or “A” button A Button
Back or “B” button Exit Button
Play Play Button
Pause Pause Button
Stop Stop Button
Fast Forward Fast Forward Button
Rewind Rewind Button
Navigation Navigation Arrows Surround the “OK” Button

I’ve found that even when you are at the Xbox 360 dashboard, you can navigate using your Comcast remote. Give it a try and quit fumbling with two remotes just to watch Netflix!
